Life with two kids

Oh my! Well I know that I am well over due with a post and I am very sorry about that. Life with two kids has kind of been an adjustment. Okay, its knocked me off my feet. And I have had help for the last two weeks. So the biggest test is tomorrow, when daddy goes back to work and momma starts drinking. Just kidding about that last part. My mom stayed for a week with us and I was ever so grateful to have her here. So many moments when she held the baby or entertained Joslyn, I was thinking how can I do both? I have maybe had 2 nights alone to myself with the kiddos and both have been disasters. Joslyn threw up all over the place in one of them and brother peed and spit up on me and the bed on the other. But to the credit of all my CR training, I keep chanting ONE MOMENT AT A TIME, over and over. And so far everyone has survived. We hope to start going to one or two of our normal weekly church events next week. Let's hope that we will make it on time, with all of our clothes on,(hopefully minus the spit up), and with all the things we need( like bottles, diapers and cups). All of those I have forgotten at some point this last week.
So to update you on life with two for us.

JOSLYN has been great with her little brother. She loves to hold him and hold his bottle. She also loves to climb in his bouncer and play with his stuff, unpack his diaper bag and run off with his toys. Josyln has had quite a bit of attitude problems though and has been extra clingy. We expected this though and we are trying to deal accordingly.

JAXON is doing really well. He is a fairly laid back baby and sleeps a lot. We did have a big concern about his weight gain. He was losing weight on breast milk and a little formula so we have moved to mostly formula. I have tried to pump to increase my milk supply. But we have decided that really for our family it will be much better to go strictly formula. He does much better and we save so much time. And time is something that we don't have much of!

MOMMA is doing well, I mean physically anyways. Mentally, the verdict is still out. I lost 25lbs with baby and breast feeding. I will be sad to lose that bf benefit. But I will be very excited to sleep without leaking or having to wear a bra to bed. Also, I got a good report from my post checkup. With the trouble I had with this c-section I am surprised at the way I am moving around. I am extremely glad that I got my tubes tied and that I will never have to go through that surgery again.

Welcome to the World my little man.

Jaxon Easton Ellifritt arrived in this world 10/15/2012 at 10:57 am. He weighed 8 lbs 12ounces. And He was 21 inches long.

He was brought into this world by c-section by this lady, Dr. Fletcher.

He has ten fingers, ten toes and a head full of hair.

He has a very proud daddy!

An even prouder momma!

But the proudest I think is big sister!

Yesterday was a really rough day for momma as I had trouble dealing with all the medication and was very nauseous. Baby boy had some low blood sugar when he arrived, so he got a lot of sticks to his feet. But besides that both momma and baby are doing well and are due to go home tomorrow. We are very proud of our little guy and his entrance to the world. He seems to be pretty laid back and easy going. He is doing okay with the breast feeding, even though we are supplementing with formula. We have had many visitors and to love on him. But I do have to give a special shout-out to my dear friend Amey, who has been a life saver. Spending countless hours with us so that John could go home and walk the dogs. Also a special shout out to Grandma Marcie for taking care of my angel and bringing her up here to see him many times. Neither one of these people we could do with out. So thank you guys from the bottom of mine and John's heart!

Tomorrow is the day!

Tomorrow I have to be at the hospital by 8:30. So we drop off Joslyn at Grandma's house about 8:00. She lives less than a mile from the hospital. I check in and wait until they call me back. I am following another c-section at 10:00. Then during my c-section I will be getting my tubes tied.  I am interested in seeing how this will affect my recovery time. Then after that it's baby time! Momma Marcie will bring Joslyn up when we get out of recovery. And I hope to post pics to facebook when I can that day. And if I can I will update you too!

Please remember us in your prayers tomorrow that Jaxon comes out a healthy kiddo. I would love to  hear your thoughts on what his weight will be. Remember on the 5th he was 7lbs 12oz.

GETTING EXCITED!!!!

What is left!

Well my bags are packed and I'm ready to go....


Just kidding! My bag was packed and then I ran out of clothes so now I have to repack it after doing boatloads of laundry this weekend.

The room is ready and waiting....

NOT!!!!!!
We did get Joslyn's new bed in the room and the crib assembled. But tomorrow John has to move a huge wall shelf to make room for the dresser, which is also our changing table. Right now they are in the room, but you can't get to the bottom drawer. We still have a display shelf to buy and some toy totes that will fit under the crib. This room is packed but I fill very good about the end result that we will have. I also want to get some more decorations like a valance for the window, a one fish two fish clock for the room. I want to pick up some more Dr. Suess books to display and some other Dr. Suess items as we find them. I would love love love to have a Dr. Suess comforter or quilt for Joslyn's bed. But this will all come in time.

The car seat is installed....

YEP YOU"RE RIGHT! THAT'S NOT TRUE EITHER!

We have the car seat ready to be installed but this weekend we are going to the car wash and throughly cleaning out the car. We also are moving Joslyn's seat to behind the driver because I have a messed up seat and can't move it up and there is no room for the infant car seat behind me. Also this way I can keep a better eye on the little guy. So I want the car to be clean, it hasn't had a good cleaning in awhile. By the way, if you really want to get us something for the little guy, a van would be great!!! Just Kidding!

I am completely up to date on my thank you notes!!!
We have completed all the paperwork for the hospital and are preregistered.
The bassinet is ready to hold him.
I have played with my moby wrap, with Joslyn's dolls and figured out mostly how to use it.
Joslyn's temporary stay with grandma is set up and ready


SO we have left some things to do at the last minute. The advantage of having a c-section scheduled! Yes he could still come early, but it won't be the end of the world if John has to do these things while I'm in the hospital. I am just ready to hold the little guy! 4 days left!!!

pregnancy update - week 38

WE HAVE 1 WEEK!!!!!!

Little Jaxon Easton is arriving on Monday the 15th around noon-ish! Well that is if he doesn't make his debut on his own. They will be taking him at 39 weeks. We had an ultrasound last Friday and he weighed approximately 7 lbs 12 ounces. So My guess on his weight will be around 8 5. We didn't get anymore pictures, he tends to be shyer than Joslyn was at least with his face. He loves to have his hands in his face. He is facing downwards and every little kick is very powerful to mommy. I have gained about 4 lbs off and on, one week I have lost it, the next week I put it back on. I have been doing okay on my sugars but I must admit it has been really hard to eat well. I really am praying that this diabetes is gone when I deliver.

As far as everything else, I believe we are set. We got everything really we need. There are things I would like to get but aren't nessecities. Like a shopping cart cover and room decorations. We are still low on wipes, but hopefully we will be able to afford them. I feel so blessed! John put together Joslyn's twin size bed and he put up the crib yesterday. Jax will be sleeping in our room for awhile in the bassinet, but I like having the crib up for naps. Also it really helps to be able to have the space together. We are going to have to do some major re arranging with toys but that is doable. WE are going to buy the mattress for Joslyn's bed Thursday and I will post pics then.

So that's all I can think of. Do you have any questions? Did I leave anything out? Are you getting excited?

A Suessical shower!

So we finally had my baby shower and it was amazing. I was talking last night to someone about how serious I am of a person. We had a funny night at CR, last night with the Skit Guys and I noticed that I was the only one not cracking up at all that they said. This doesn't surprise me. Most of the time I am an 89 percent serious person. If fact the way I try and break that cycle is to schedule fun. I know it sounds silly to have to schedule fun, but that is the only way I know how to break out of my shell. So when my friend throwing my shower asked if there was a theme, I said yes. Dr. Suess. I chose Dr. Suess because I had just decided that was going to be the theme of Jaxon's and Joslyn's combined room.

When I chose this theme, I hadn't fully envisioned how we were going to make it fun. But slowly ideas came to me. Like to have my hubby wear a cat in the hat hat.

Then I thought Joslyn could be Thing 1

Of course that meant Jaxon was thing 2

The rest of the shower was not my idea, but the work of genius of my 3 shower hostesses. This is Lizzy, my dear friend and the brave one who amongst going to college and working, took time out to plan my baby shower. She also is amazing and I mean amazing with kids. All kids I know love Lizzy! I love her too! Lizzy and her mom made all the food.

Instead of cake we had these extremely colorful cupcakes.  And Lorax punch of course.

And this is Jess who took care of the decorations. Poor thing was in lots of pain this day, but it didn't stop her from setting up my shower. Such a sweet friend. Jess set up all the tables and chairs and decorated all the tables.

Jess Also bought This Happy Birthday Suess book for people to sign. Thank you Jess for all your hard work.

And lastly, but not least is my wonderful sister, who was in charge of the games.

My sister found and printed off these amazing advice cards, they also have places for people to guess the date of baby's birth and size and length. One of the other games was Dr. Suess trivia. People had to guess missing words from Dr. Suess phrases. It was harder than you think it would be.  She also counted out lots of goldfish( the edible kind) and people had to guess how many there were.

We had a tie breaker game to guess how big my belly was!

The last game was baby gift bingo. People had to guess what baby gifts I was going to get. The funny thing about this game is that they were playing blackout and all that filled out cards were expecting me to get baby wipes and that was the one thing we didn't get. LOL! So no one got a blackout.

Of course those that won the games got to take home a lovely goldfish!

There are so many people we have to thank for a fun and amazing shower. Thanks to all who came and gave and worked and just are a part of our lives. We love you guys!

Adventure 50!

So I have been saying that if I get 50 followers then I would accomplish adventure 50. Believe me when I say that my adventure list is so not out of my mind! I dream of accomplishing those adventures! I get excited about them! So when the opportunity came up to do henna, I quickly jumped right in. Thanks to my wonderful sister, who found the kit at Hobby lobby for about 13 dollars we were able to henna my belly the night before my baby shower.

According to my little research there are two basic kinds of henna. Black henna and brown henna. Brown henna is a more Americanized henna and doesn't last as long as black henna. It's cheaper and has the same kind of dye in it that you find in hair dye. Black henna is very strong and will last much longer, but is very toxic. Don't ever use black henna while pregnant. As with all dyes, you want to be careful when pregnant. Due to raging hormones, you never know exactly how your body will adapt to dyes while pregnant.  So we called for a henna party! Only my sister and Marcie and Joslyn were there to celebrate, but that is okay. This is a before pic of my ugly preggo belly. Notice the galbladder surgery scars, aren't they attractive?

Next my sister drew on a design with a regular crayola marker. Notice it's not professional, it's perfect!

Then it's time to get comfy and not breathe! Some moments she was adding the paint I had to hold my breath, for fear of messing her up! That was a holding my breath face, not an angry face.

This is the finished henna design. We traced big sister's hand print on there, to include her in the process. It was hard for Joslyn to not touch! Hard for mommy to stay still too! The henna needed to stay on there for 3 hours at least. After henna dried on there, it started cracking and a sugar water solution and lemon juice had to be applied lightly to darken the henna.

Once it cracked it started to get itchy. So we played card games and hung around until time to take it off. Now the instructions said to use a cotton ball and vegetable oil to remove the dried henna paint. And not to get it wet for 12 hours. Well after two minutes of rubbing and not getting anywhere, I climbed in the bathtub and washed it off. It wasn't working on it's own.

So this is how it looked after rubbing off the henna. But let me tell you that the next morning, it was as dark as it was with the henna on it. It definitely darkened over night. Some people wrap it in toilet paper to keep it from rubbing off on the sheets, but I wasn't worried about getting my shirt dirty. And the next morning there was no residue on my shirt. This was a fun and exciting adventure. The henna got really cold while on there, like icy hot cold. But otherwise it was easy to do. The henna is supposed to last 2 to 3 weeks. So it should wear off right as brother arrives!!! Thanks for following and supporting my blog. Stay tuned to new adventures!
